SOTAV schedules and coordinates the movement of commodities/cargo across international borders, on behalf of its clients and customers. We provide expedited services by arranging the customs brokerage, cargo clearance process for you during a shipment. We ensure that all cargo, including all classes of prohibited, restricted hazardous materials (hazmat) and shipment meets all standards and regulations for import or export.
What does customs brokerage involve?
Doing export and import is by no means a simple endeavor. There are documents and e-forms to be filled and/or filed, Bill of Entries and/or Declarations to be made. Depending on the nature of the goods (Harmonized Code), specific taxes, duties, fees and levies may apply or be paid.
As experts, we help you navigate the sea of changing regulations and understand import specifics related to particular commodities, clearance procedures, admissibility requirements, classification, valuation, and tariffs imposed on custom goods.
We can do our job as employees or associates of freight forwarders, independent businesses, shipping lines, importers, exporters and customs brokerage firms. To engage in the customs business, we must have a broker license. This means that we have to employ at least one individually licensed officer, partner or associate. As a client, you grant us c the authority to act on your behalf.
